As a visitor to the Curiosity website

We do not track any visits to this website. As you visit the website, know these things:

• No personal information is collected
• No information is shared with, sent to, or sold to third-parties
• No information is mined and harvested for personal and behavioural trends
• No information is monetised

We use Plausible Analytics (EE) to understand our overall trends in our website traffic. All the data is in aggregate mode and we cannot distinguish any specific individual from the data. Here is their Data Processing Agreement.

In addition to the above, we are also using Tinybird running at our host. This service does not collect any personal information.

As a member of Curiosity

We only collect & process what we need to provide you with the service you signed up for. We use a select number of highly trusted and acknowledged service providers that takes privacy seriousy.

We only share information with our service providers that is required for them to carry out their service.

Here's the practical details:

• An email address is required to create an account. Becoming a member requires that you provide us with your email address. With that information you can log in to the website and we can send you invoices, updates or other essential information.
• Before you post a comment, you’ll need to enter your name. You’ll also have the option to include your expertise. Once you’ve submitted your comment, both your name and (if provided) your expertise will appear next to it. We will use your name to personalise the emails we send you. Your name and (if provided) your expertise will not be used for any other purposes.
• Two persistent first-party cookies are stored to remember that you are logged in. If you log in to your account, you give us permission to use cookies so you don’t have to log in on each new page load. This makes it easier for you to use our product. Read more about this in our Cookies article.
• The payment process is handled by a third-party payment provider. If you choose to upgrade to a paid membership, the billing information and the payment process is handled by Stripe (US). See their Privacy Policy, Data Transfers Addendum, or Data Processing Agreement for full details.
• All emails are sent using a third-party email provider. Transactional emails and newsletters are sent using Mailgun (US). We have disabled all tracking of emails we send out. See their Privacy Policy or Data Processing Agreement for full details.
• Website files hosted at our host are sent through a CDN provider. All of the files sent to your device, are sent through Cloudflare (US). Their Privacy Policy is quite long, but as long as you're only browsing Curiosity they will not collect more than your IP. It is a safety measure that helps prevent malicious traffic and prevent attacks against Curiosity.

Your privacy rights at Curiosity

Through the Portal, you can directly access and edit your email and name, and choose which newsletters you wish to receive.

If your account has been suspended for a breach of our Terms and you would like to exercise your rights related to your personal data, you can submit a request to our support team.

Data retention

We will retain your information as long as your account is active, as necessary to provide you with the services or as otherwise set forth in this policy.

We will also retain and use this information as necessary for the purposes set out in this policy and to the extent necessary to comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements and protect our legal rights.

After deleting your account, we will keep your personal data for at most one (1) month after deletion.

Data deletion

You can choose to delete your Curiosity account at any time by contacting us.

Note that we cannot delete your comments, only you can do that.

The best way to request data deletion is as follows:

1. Log in to your account.
2. Find and delete any comments you do not wish to leave behind.
3. Open the Portal.
4. Click or tap the "Contact Support" button.
5. Submit an email stating your intention to delete your account.
6. Ensure the email is sent from the same address associated with your Curiosity account.

We will process your request within seven days of receiving it. Your account will be permanently deleted, with no possibility of recovery. Any remaining comments will be attributed to "Deleted member." Once your account is deleted from curiosity.nu, we will also clear the current CDN cache from our hosting provider. This fulfils our legal obligation to honor your data deletion request. As a final step, we will reply to your email to confirm the successful deletion of your account.

Data processing location

We will share your personal data with other companies in order to carry out the activities specified in this privacy policy, see above. Some of these companies are located in other countries and some are located outside the European Union/EEA. In these cases, we have entered into so-called personal data processing agreements that enable us to maintain control over our information assets. These agreements ensure that data protection laws are upheld and that appropriate contractual, technical and organisational measures are taken, such as the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.

How we protect your data

Protecting your personal data is of utmost importance to us. We have implemented appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect the personal data you have entrusted to us from unauthorised access, unlawful processing or disclosure, accidental loss, alteration or destruction. Changes and questions

We may update this policy as needed to comply with relevant regulations and reflect any new practices. Whenever we make a significant change to our policies, we will also announce them on this website including when they enter into force.
